Rumors have been circulating about the next designer collaboration by H&M. Apparently the Swedish fast fashion retailer will be working with Maison Martin Margiela on a Holiday 2012 Collection. It is save to say that such a partnership would have never happened under the reign of Margiela himself, who left his namesake label somewhere around 2009. Since then the brand has been headed by an in-house team of designers for the majority stake holder, Diesel founder Renzo Rosso. (Via The Cut)
I can see Margiela falling into the pattern of H&M collaborators. A well respected high fashion brand, that has yet to win mainstream awareness. Even though Margiela was always the brand that wanted to stay under the radar.
